Short-Term and Medium-Term Accommodation

Accommodation and support for a defined period — respite for families, or a planned transition between living arrangements.

Accommodation setting for short-term or medium-term stays

STA and MTA, explained

Short-Term Accommodation (STA)

Often called respite — provides accommodation and support for short stays, typically up to a few weeks at a time. It gives participants a change of environment and new experiences, and gives families and regular carers a genuine break.

Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA)

Used when a participant's home isn't yet ready or available — during a move, a renovation, or a wait for a permanent arrangement to be finalised — providing accommodation and support for a longer, but still defined, transitional period.

Respite, or a genuine transition — not an extended alternative

STA is generally used by participants who need occasional respite, or who want to build independence and social experience away from their usual home. MTA is generally used by participants in a genuine transitional gap between living arrangements — not as an extended alternative to finding a permanent solution.

Like other NDIS supports, STA and MTA funding covers support and accommodation costs specifically — not personal expenses unrelated to the stay. Confirming exactly what's funded, and for how long, with your NDIS planner or Support Coordinator before booking avoids confusion later.

Why Annzac Care

Annzac Care is building out its STA and MTA services for families across the Augustine Heights and Ipswich corridor. We don't yet have published case studies to share, and we won't invent ones to fill that gap — as we work with participants and families, and with their consent, we'll add real examples here.
